statebred Purse $150.000 For Colts And Geldings Two Years Old Foaled In LA.
1 Burn Charley Burn, trained by Asgar
Two poor maiden runs were folowed by a decisive maiden win and then last time out he again dissapointed in finishing seventh in a one win allowance. Not a bad sort but not up to this grade.
2 Jolly Charley, trained by Asgar
The better of the two stable runners he won his maiden convincingly and then followed that up with a game second in the Young Memorial Futurity. He then did well enough to be sixth beaten
just three lengths in the Best Pal Stakes but since then has dissapointed a little in a couple of overnights. If he can repeat those black type efforts he would have a chance today but the form
lines are going the wrong way for me.
3 American Life, trained by Australia Wide
Two races and two wins, you cant really do better than that but in both cases he has been dour rather than impressive and he does look vulnerable to a horse witha bit of toe. His works are very good and
so you have to think he has improved since his last start in August and he wont be far away if he has.
4 Leaving Arizona, trained by Wolfs Den
This son of Copper Bottom took a while to get his maiden win but has yet to run a bad race. Some useful work times put this consistent speedy type right in this race.
5 Quadplex, trained by Team 7 Illusions
Still a maiden after a debut sixth at the fair track you would be forgiven for writing this one off. However a glance at his latest track work will tell you that he is a lot better than a fair track maiden and if
there is ever an upset in waiting its this one.
6 Cafe Nativo, trained by Frozen Tundra
Followed up his maiden win witha big run in the AP Washington Futiruty where although he only managed ninth he was only two lengths off teh winner after getting behind early on. He dissapointed on teh grass next up but won over this trip last time out and deserves to be in the mix for this.
7 Omega Glory, trained by Pocket Aces Racing
Was two from two until he tried to take on graded stakes in his last two. He was one place and a length in front of Cafe Nativo in the Washington Futurity but the was pretty poor in the Grey Stakes when beaten a long way in ninth.
The draw will be tough but he is a deep closer so it may work out for him.
SUMMARY
This is a tricky race and the safest thing to do is to go for the Australia Wide runner or Leaving Arizona but I have a sneaking suspicion Quadplex could turn over the form book and win this as a maiden.
