Can Kid Commander Run Them Down from the Car Park in The Jaipur?

The Jaipur – Grade I [BC]
BEL Race #4 6f Turf Graded Stake
Purse $400.000 For Three Year Olds And Upward.

1         Scafati         Fractious          Davis D

16 races on the dirt, a KYD runner and second in the Travers, where else, other than HRP, would you expect to see him turning up in a grade one turf sprint. But with one run on turf for one win this may just be the time he switches disciplines for good especially from this handy draw. He has won at five and a half furlongs so i don’t think the trip will matter and he is working well enough over six furlongs to be a winning chance here.

2          Cold Weather Rider         Night Rider Stables         Saez L

This seven year old has really come into his own as a sprinter as he has got older. The winner of the competitive GP Turf Sprint earlier in the year he was very game last time in the TS Turf Sprint when he dead heated with Kid Commander. He once again gets the perfect draw and Kid Commander gets drawn out again so a repeat may well be on the cards. His works are very sharp and he must be a big winning chance.

3     Owl Cat        Rock Creek         Court J K

A solid enough sprinter but comes up against a tough field at age six and has yet to make his mark above overnight level. Having said that he is working as well as any and winning races in faster times so with no class system effective there is no reason other than the class gene that he wont run well.

4          Pizza Night          Arindel            Carrasco V R

Another fast one he can work 1.09 flat and run low 56’s but still can’t win above overnight level. The same sort of thing apples to him as with Owl Cat it will all come down to the hidden class gene.

5       Cherokee Surprise     TwinTowersRacing         Gaffalione T

This stable does it to me every time, a horse who is out of form, has been running at extreme trips but can work a sprint time with the best sprinters. I normally write them off and they they go and win.

6           Elijah G         Mb Stables              Gutierrez Mario

Beaten just a nose into third by Kid Commander and Cold Weather Rider in the TS Turf Sprint, the weight allowances are the same here and the draws are similar so i would expect nothing between those three again. This is a very progressive three year old who is entitled to improve so should be right in this.

7          Insist Always         Mb Stables           Jaramillo E

Its a big weekend for Mb Stables and they have two in here. I think the three year old will be the better of the two but this one has his own claims even if they don’t seem as good. Won in a sub 56 second time at PIM last time so is clearly in top form and ready to run well.

8           Overhauled           Gdp Inc             Beschizza A

A solid sprinter he will need some luck from wide but is capable of a good run. His fifth in the San Simeon tells me he is in the right form but he needs to step up in grade to win this after most of his best wins coming at a lower level.

9           Kid Commander      Allinthegate          Velazquez J R

Overcame wide draws to win the San Simeon and the TS Turf Sprint and has to do the same again today. This ones class gene is beyond doubt and with 11 wins from 17 he really is building into a site busting sprinter.

SUMMARY

I think Kid Commander is a bit special but he will need some luck from the car park draw and that brings in his TS Sprint rivals, Cold Weather Rider and Elijah G. Pizza Night and Scafati could be ones if the odds are longer to spice up the trifecta
