Its Donuts All Around in Sweetest Chant

The Sweetest Chant – Grade III
1 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $100.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

With the first five home covered by less than a length it looks like we
will have another season with our top three year olds swapping stakes races as the season wears on. With so many horses in the HRP puddle of possible winners you have to take each race as a victory on its own, today Bake The Donut was the best and deserved the win, next week it will probably be any one of the runners reversing the form.

1st Bake The Donut, trained by Night Rider Stables
Taken off the early pace and just worse than midfield suited this filly down
to the ground and when the going got tough down the stretch it was her nose and her heart that carried her to victory. As narrow as the win was she is clearly improving at a good rate and adds another string to the stables impressive bow.

2nd Viking Amy, trained by Delta Farms
Thrown into the lead by the wide speed push she ran a great race in her first attempt at black type racing. Holding off challengers every where but the line she was gutsy and game and clearly a filly that is going places.

3rd Narly Kruz, trained by Brave
The highest achiever in the race can go away from this contest with a good feeling about her run as the two pound penalty she was carrying may well have meant the difference between a win and her final third placing. Close enough throughout she stuck on gamely and will certainly be a force as the season moves on.

4th Taking Liberties, trained by Gdp Inc
Arguably the best run in the race she was a real black booker today running on from a fair way back to be beaten a whisker into fourth. Having only her third start and a first go above low level racing this was a promising effort that backed up some excellent recent works. Keep your eye open for her next race.

5th Known To Laff
In a good enough position throughout her trainer will feel pretty hard done by at being beaten less than a length in a grade three stakes race and not even collecting a cheque. A good effort on seasonal debut she wont have to improve much to win at this level.

6th Dragonville
Got well back early on and flew late there is clearly a very good win in this maiden very soon. One for the black book and a nailed on certainty for a maiden win.

7th Captain Caveman
Stalked the lead but found nothing when everything started swooping by from the back. Not a bad effort but looks a shade off graded class at the moment.

8th Rag Doll Rogue
Never really got into the race.

9th Fire Plug
Again failed to see out the mile at this level.

SUMMARY

A great spectacle of a race but almost impossible to read as a form guide. I would be happy to own any one of the first six and any one of those could turn this form around next time out.
