The Swale Stakes – Grade II
7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $150.000 Open 3 Year Olds.
1st Hes Juiced Up, trained by Mb Stables
Just a month ago this son of Chai latte was winning a cheap stakes race
at the low track TUP. Today here he is winning a grade two stakes race at a high end track.
Close up but not taking the early front for the lead he dug deep and ran on very
gamely to win by a nose and make it three wins in a row. It will be interesting to
see where this one goes now, either sticking to sprinting or trying to get on the TC
trail. Either way this is a very good horse with his heart in the right place and
looks yet another top horse for HRP’s champion owner.
2nd Water Mummy, trained by Downwind Stables
A slightly easier early pace helped this grade one winner lay up nice and close to
the pace and i must admit by halfway i was wondering how far he would win by. Running
on strongly he just could not out battle the winner but he nevertheless ran a super
seasonal debut over a trip that may prove too short.
3rd Diplomatic Prince, trained by Aer Stables
Having only his third start and with only a maiden win to his name this homebred was
super impressive in getting third in this quality field. Thrown into the lead by the
wide speed push he kept on gamely to be beaten less than a length. A different draw and a different day
may have seen him win so i am sure his owner will be very happy with this effort.
4th Above Standard, trained by Mb Stables
Came here like his stable mate on a three timer he was close enough but in the end not quite
good enough. Only beaten a length in the end he cannot be written off at this grade yet but may
prove to be one of the stables second string.
5th Babolat
Started in the stalk but could not keep up the gallop in the end.
6th Plucky Springer
Taken to the trail this grade one winner could never get in a blow. This performance
just goes to show the narrow line of success here at HRP as a grade one winner finished
last behind a lowly ungraded stakes winner.
SUMMARY
It is really hard at this time of year to seperate late bloomers and previous graded stakes
winners. Mb Stables is one of the best at bringing out this type of horse at this time of
year and downing the big guns and he did it again today.
