Is Wonder Where Stakes a Two Horse Battle?

  1    WO    Wonder Where Stakes

$250.000       3yo F    Foaled In  CA     1 1/4m  Turf        123lbs

Somewhere in the world, AW knows there’s a short field in a WO Stakes race and it’s just driving him crazy… he’s not sure why yet, but… So we have a small field of four set for the Wonder Where Stakes, a mile and a quarter turf route for the sophomore CA-bred fillies and I’ve got to go with one of two horses here… the duo seems to be Inquisition and Niner Nation and I’m leaning towards the Emerald Racing Inc owned Niner Nation as I believe that VA Oaks race will prove to be a key race.  She only missed by a length in that one at 12/1 odds, and I don’t think you will get anything close to that today.  Inquisition is another that must be given a big look off of her body of work this season.  She just never runs a bad race and not a reason to think it will happen today.

I’ll be boxing the exacta like Mike Tyson as a 19yo… heavy and hard.  Let’s see how this one plays out.

Here’s The Field –

1
   Hint Of Rubicon    Arindel    Gallardo A A   123   9/1

She’s still looking for her first win of the ’21 season but has three runner-up finishes with a pair of thirds, so she’s certainly been sniffing the winner’s circle for a while.  She’s struggled vs. graded horses, but facing CA-bred could be the ticket for a big run today.  The distance, on the other hand may be a question mark.

2
Tea For Two    Keikowin Racing    Contreras L   123   12/1

They will be asking her to go a route of ground that she’s never seen, and she tired going a flat mile, so it’ makes it tough to jump on her bandwagon today.  She was backing up going 5f in her most recent so I just can’t put her in the picture.

3
Niner Nation    Emerald Racing Inc    Wilson E J   123   8/5

Nice runner-up effort in the VA Oaks on the soft turf that afternoon, and she also broke her maiden on soft sod, so they may be hoping for rain.  She also won on this course taking down CA-bred Alw foes, and that was firm turf going a mile and an eighth.  She has my attention.

4
   Inquisition    Arindel    Boulanger G   123   9/5

Consistent, consistent, consistent… she just never seems to run a bad race.  A 2-3-2 record from eight starts and the only off-the-board finish was a fourth, only beaten a length.  She’s run big in a few stakes as well, so you have to give her a big chance here today… maybe, the best chance.
