Bounced back from a dead last finish in the DED Jackpot (GIII) to win The Lost In The Fog at AQU. He seems to be suited for the sprint game, but the two-turn route races have not been kind. No reason for me to think things are going to change today so I’ll look at some others.
Four in a row and five-of-six lifetime with his only loss coming in an Alw race at EMD… go figure. His last three have been at the distance so this seem like a logical spot for him to continue his march towards the first Saturday in May.
Just missed over this track last out when second (DH) in the Smarty Jones. He was flying late in that mile contest, so you have to think the extra half-furlong will be something he wants. Of course traffic could be an issue as well, so it may be an interesting day for this one.
He was the other have of the DH for second in the Smarty Jones and that was his first start v. black-type horses and he was coming off of his maiden win. That tells me there’s still room for improvement and his best race may be yet to come.
His ’16 debut called an end to his undefeated streak as he was fourth in the Sham (GIII) at SA coming back from that long lay-off. He closed well to be fourth that day and was only beaten two lengths, so he certainly could be a handful in this one.
He’s still a maiden and was fifth in a LA-bred stakes back in Nov. Third at the FG facing state-bred so this certainly seems like a very tough spot for him to get the job done. With all of that being said, expect him to win by seven.
Got back to the winner’s circle in his ’16 debut taking the Jerome (GIII) at AQU. That was his first stakes win and certainly should give the barn reason to be in a good mood coming into this one. I think he has room to improve and if he gets a somewhat clean trip, expect big things from him.
Broke maiden in his second start at SA last out, and that was going six and a half on the main track there. So now he steps up to black-type horses and stretches out to a two-turn race. That’s quite a bit to ask but maybe he’s that type of horse.
He’s been struggling against LA-bred stakes horses in LA and comes back on very short rest to take on this group – I just can’t see it.
Won an Alw race at FG for the new connections after being sold for a pretty penny. That last out win was at a mile and an eighth so the distance shouldn’t be a concern. You know the barn is sharp and you have to figure he’s going to be in the thick of it when the lights come on.
Seventh in the Smarty Jones here last out but had been on the board in every start before that. He catches a tough post and will need to bounce back in a big way to be any part of this one. He looks like a nice horse, but this seems tough.
