A small field for a decent purse but that seems to be a sign of the times with the three year olds this year as very few have made it to this level this season. This one is very much not there yet but has an opportunity from an inside gate to make the step from overnights to black type. Owned by Aer Stables he raced on the dirt but when Mb Stables bought him he was put to the grass for two wins from two starts. After that he was auctioned and Night Rider Stables picked him up and that trainer went back to the dirt where he ran a decent fourth after a six month break. It has been a while again so he may need the run but he finds an interesting race.

2 Snagglepuss     Mb Stables      Beschizza A

When the best stable in the game gets the best draw in the game with the best worker in the field, well, you have to take notice. The son of Commanding isn’t the best of the sires offspring but he carries some good efforts into this most notably second in the Amsterdam. That run was in the wet where i feel he is at his best and though his form hasn’t been as strong in the dry he did manage a good second in the Harrods Creek over this trip so should give a good account whatever the conditions.

3 Crack Hero      Gdp Inc       Gonzalez Ru

Lightly raced with just four starts he didn’t break his maiden until his last start but is working like a very good horse despite his efforts so far. He looks like this trip suits him which is important as seven furlongs is a bit of a specialist trip but it is a big step up in class to go straight from maidens into a stakes race at this time of year. Could be the dark horse.

4 Roundhead         Riggins Racing        Zayas E J

He is a bit of an enigma as he was claimed in a maiden claimer but this trainer knows what they are doing and he quickly established himself as much better than that. Third in the grade one Jerkins Memorial he went to the Gallant Bob to try and make the BC but ran poorly there so theer are still plety of questions to be answered about him. He certainly has the ability and the seven furlongs will suit.

5 Hard To Forgive       D J C Racing Stables       Geroux F

He has run some nice races in good company without really troubling the judge. Bought for $450 after finishing fifth in the Fountain Of Youth that purchase may have been a bit hopeful as he hasn’t made much of a dent in that price since. A good third in the Winn and a fair effort in the Dandy tells us there is something there and maybe today the trainer will find it.

SUMMARY

Well i hate to be boring but when the number keeps coming up red you have to keep throwing your chips in so I will have to go for Snagglepuss and hope the ground comes up a bit wet. This is a very open race however and respect must be given to the other four with probably Roundhead being the choice for the exacta.
