Happy Halloween from CD where seven juvenile fillies will vie for the $200.000 treat up for grabs in the Rags To Riches.  After the first five runnings took place going the one-turn mile, the distance was increased to 11/16 last year and that is how far they will be running Halloween night.  Nothing in the race’s brief history has stayed consistent as no trainer nor rider has more than one win and the purse has changed each year as well.  The seven fillies have only nine wins between them and three of these gals will be facing winners for the first time.  Here’s the field for Halloween Night’s $200.000 Rags To Riches at CD:

#1 Rosalind (Fractious/G. Saez): Debut win was sharp, but has found winners a bit more of a challenge.  Was only beaten two lengths in a G1 in her last start and draws well for this assignment.  Distances keep increasing with each race and she may be primed for her best effort yet.

#2 Wicked Ways (TwinTowersRacing/F. Geroux): Had to wait until the two-turn racing started before she broke her maiden, but she vallidated the win against winners last out.  One of only two horses with multiple wins and hers were both going a route of ground.  Aptly named to race on Halloween to boot.  Respect.

#3 Greta (Royalty Stables/Mar. Garcia): Impressive score to break her maiden, but you always worry about how short field wins translate to this level of competition.  Trainer gives her a chance to prove it and has to hope he doesn’t get tricked Sunday night.

#4 Swiss Skydiver (Crocker Ggs/T. Gaffalione): Leading earner in the field off of two scores this summer at SAR.  Has to show she can stretch out, but there’s nothing wrong with the way she has ran so far.  Deserved favorite and she is a threat to leave all of these in her wake.

#5 Permanent Vacation (Nakamura Stables/M. Murrill): Gal tried a turf G1 after breaking her maiden, but drops in class and gets back to the main track for this.  Dirt form is solid and she may be the early pace-setter.  Looks to be a trifecta candidate at the very least.

#6 Verve (Mb Stables/A. Beschizza): Debuted going short on the turf before breaking the maiden on the stretch-out.  Note that the GP win was over a course labled “good” as the forecast in the Bluegrass State is apt to change at any time.  Trainer hasn’t won this yet, so you know it’s a question of when not if that changes..

#7 Cb Lady (Maxmillion Farm/J.K. Court): Three unsuccessful sprint tries preceeded the stretch-out last time and she took Cal-bred foes gate-to-wire going a mile at GG in that race.  Gets caught with the outside draw here, but with only seven lined-up, that may not be too bad.  Working well for this first try vs winners and must be respected.

Final Analysis: 4-2-7 but rooting for the 3.  Good luck to everyone involved in the $200.000 Rags To Riches at CD.
