Get in front and make ’em catch ya… that seems to be the game-plan with Plucky Flash right now and it’s putting money in the bank. Once again, as he had done in his previous two races – both wins, breaking on top and setting the pace throughout Saturday’s Ft Lauderdale Stakes (GII) at GP, the 4yo gelding was able to hold off the challengers late and get home first by a neck. The final running time was a snappy 1:45.24 for the mile and an eighth on the GP turf course labeled Firm. King Que Niagra closed well to make a race out of it, but had to settle for runner-up money, with Lets Do It Big Boy a length back in third. Day Tribe took the minor money.
Plucky Flash is a 4yo bay gelded son of Condottieris Flash – Plucky Elmo, by Plucky Mach, and he was bred in NY by Aloya. Tagged by Rock Creek in May for just $14.000, he now has eight lifetime wins, five this season, four of those under the current ownership, and has lifetime earnings of $328.960. Congrats to the Connections!

Plucky Flash sharp break, crossed over to gain the inside position, held a clear lead throughout, held sway late. King Que Niagra broke in hand, tracked mid-pack 2p, fanned 4p into the lane, split horses, closed well. Lets Do It Big Boy tracked the pace from the inside, no excuse. Day Tribe mid-pack throughout, evenly late. Regret Nothing tracked pace to the top of the lane, flattened out. Get Set Gone lacked early interest, moved up on the far turn 5p, evenly late. Homme de Guerre was no factor. Ranking Official outrun. Two In The Chamber trailed throughout.
