Breaking from stall four in the six-horse field for the $200.000 G3 Connally BC Turf, Hindenburg Tour was quick to establish a clear lead. A mile and a half later, nothing had changed for the 6yo homebred gelding (Bold Ransom o/o Pearl Belle) as he completed the marathon distance in 2:25.51. The first Connally winner for both his trainer Nakamura Stables and jockey V.R. Carrasco, Hindenburg Tour improved his lifetime record to 32-10-5-5 for earnings of $671.450.
Breaking a full-length better than Louisiana Chicken and Devil Made Me Doit, both trained by Maxmillion Farm, Hindenburg Tour was quick to determine the rules of engagement as he covered four furlongs in :48.27 and was already three lengths in front of his nearest competitor. Hindenburg Tour was still cruising along as he passed the halfway point in 1:12.30 and was two lengths clear of Louisiana Chicken.
After 2:00.60, Hindenburg Tour had a quarter mile left in his bid to take them gate-to-wire. He looked as though he had put away Louisiana Chicken, but Zensational and Andes both appeared poised to make the race interesting down the lane. Hindenburg Tour drifted out just a bit through the lane, but he was still a half-length in front of Zensational as he hit the wire. Andes was another half-length neck in third with Louisiana Chicken (battling the whole way), Devil Made Me Doit, and Born To Party completing the order of finish.
Congratulations to Nakamura Stables and Hindenburg Tour for winning the G3 Connally BC Turf at HOU.
