One Mile and One Sixteenth on the Dirt

There were only six fillies in the Alexandra, just one more than the amount of fillies that raced in the Risen Star Stakes. That did not mean that this race would be any less impactful for its winner, with 50 points for the KYO being on the line. The race would be won by Drilldownfortruth, and if you wanted public information on her, you would have to really drill down into the past. She was last out on the track in the Grade 2 Demoiselle, at AQU and earned the win. There would be nothing unusual about going about 75 days since that race, but there were no public works on her since 2021 as well. We could see that she had won three of four coming into the race and was looking to remain hot. That, she would accomplish, getting the first win in the stake for both trainer TwinTowersRacing and jockey J R Velazquez. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:42.45, not one of the quicker times, but all that was needed. Let’s take a look!

(¼ Mile- :23.88)- Say Bye Bye does exactly that, and takes the early lead for Arindel in the early going with no one going up to challenge her. We do have three stalkers right behind her, and one of them is our eventual winner, Drilldownfortruth, for TwinTowersRacing. She rides the rail around the opening turn while having the Smokey Stover trained filly, League Of Legends to her outside and Jenga running in the third lane for Wood Duck Stables. Following them closely are Low Budget Java (Nakamura Stables) and Moment To Dream (Alydar Stables).

(½ Mile- :47.72)- Say Bye Bye is still the leader, but the stalkers are not going to wait until the stretch run or even the final turn to make their move. Early in the backstretch, Drilldownfortruth moves over a lane, and both League Of Legends and Jenga are happy to move over themselves to accommodate that. By the time they reach the end of the backstretch both Drilldownfortruth and League Of Legends are within a half length of the leader, running to her outside. Jenga is still a length behind them. Further back, Moment To Dream stays right behind Jenga, but Low Budget Java loses a little bit of ground.

(Top Of Stretch, 1.8F To Go)- At the top of the turn, League Of Legends poked a head in front of Drilldownfortruth, but it did not take long for Drilldownfortruth to make that pass as well. She would enter the stretch with about a half length lead as former pacesetter Say Bye Bye was dropping back quickly. Jenga was not able to keep up with the two she had been stalking with previously, and so far we had not seen anything out of Moment To Dream of Low Budget Java.

(Finish- 1:42.45)- Drilldownfortruth looks really strong in the stretch, pulling away from League Of Legends and making it look easy in the process. League Of Legends was still running well and that would be enough for second, but Drilldownfortruth would be much the best in the stretch. Low Budget Java completes the trifecta moreso by default, since no one else was doing anything in the stretch. Jenga, Moment To Dream and Say Bye Bye round it out.

About The Winner- Drilldownfortruth, trained by TwinTowersRacing and ridden to victory by J R Velazquez, is a three year old filly by Brief And Wonderous and is out of Alive Eternal. She was bred as a second quarter two year old by her trainer in Kentucky, and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win in her fourth in six starts, and her second stake win, each of which are graded. Her career earnings are now $390.000.
