Smokin Toni Wheezes Her Way Home Late in the Day

The Correction
6 Furlongs Inner Dirt Stake Purse $125.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Smokin Toni, trained by Rockitpad
This super consistent sort made it six wins from ten but the crazy way the draw effects
the horses made it a very strange sort of win. Up on the pace from more favourable draws
he was taken back to the trail today either thanks to some brilliant tactical thinking
or thanks to the draw bias giving horses one of two choices. Whatever the reason she was
taken to the trail and was still last with a furlong to run but she produced a great burst
to win in the end by a half length. This is a filly that is going places and i would love
to see her taking on graded stakes company next.

2nd Iron Bay, trained by Brave
Was always thereabouts and tried very hard in the end but could not match the winners
turn of foot at the end. This was an improved effort though and she should have a race
of this calibre in her armoury.

3rd Silk Houses, trained by Alydar Stables
Taken back and got going late to run third, she continues to run like she is crying out for
a bit further. A good effort though by a filly that has proved she can win in this class.

4th Great Spot, trained by Mb Stables
Ran on well from the rear and was only beaten a length in the end. Its hard to make sense of
this effort in HRP world, she is either improving out of the cheap grade she has been running
in or once more we have the closeness of horses abilities demonstrated. Her works suggest
improvement so i am going with that for her next run which should be in similar company.

5th You Better Run
Ran just behind the speed but was weak down the stretch.

5th Way Of The Fox
Pushed into the lead and not many win from there these days. Faded into fifth and questions
still remain about her ability at this level.

7th The Generals Out
Well i was spot on that this would be a close race but i never imagined this would be the one
finishing last.
