  4  WO     Woodstock Stakes

North of the border we go for a field of five sprinters set to go six furlongs in the Woodstock Stakes, over the main track here at WO.  I know he just changed hands, but I’m giving Junkyard Dog the edge in this one.  His class just sings, and he’s only a few lengths from having a ton of cash in the bank.  Three consecutive thirds vs. graded foes as a 2yo, it’s just hard for me to go past him today. 

Here’s the Field –  

He’s won two of his last three races, both vs Alw type foes, one at TUP and the other, last out at FG.  He loves the sprint distances, but black type horses have been outside of his wants, up to this point.  Can he change that today?

He hasn’t won since breaking his maide at CD back in May of last season, but he has been close in a number of stakes races including a third in the SAR Special (GII) and the Iroquois (GIII).  He just missed last out in the Winkfield at AQU, and had the lead in the lane there… this could be a place for him to get it right. 

Broke maiden at TAM last out, getting today’s distance in a quick time, so they go right after the gusto and jump into the deep end of the pool.  He’s been close in all races and seems to be a sprint type… give him a chance, as he could be any type. 

First part of the Arindel couple and he’s won two of his last four starts, just missed in another… the bad news?  His last of six finish was his only stakes effort, so he has to turn it around if he want part of this one. 

Won over this track last out to break maiden with a tag on his head.  No takers, and they move him up to stakes company.  That was a fairly quick time, and he certainly seems to have a quick turn of foot… he’s another that could get it done, and may be at a price.
