Well i read the result right but trying to work out how the AI and race engine interprets instructions and running styles was as usual pretty impossible. Add to that that this filly who looked the most obvious winner but was offered as a 10/1 outsider in a four horse field by the monkeys that work out the odds for HRP it made this race look far different to what i expected. In her last two races this filly bounced out the stalls and made all the running but on today’s soft surface thanks to instructions, random starts or the going she settled back off the early pace and ran like a closer. However she won on going that could’ve undone her and she won well enough to believe that she can go on from her to make graded level.

Whether it was the going or the instructions the first two seem to swap places to where their natural running style would’ve put them but at the end of the day i think that and result was pretty much what was expected even if the odds monkeys made it look different. Screaming out of the stalls she built a clear lead very quickly but as they entered the straight you could see the soft ground was sapping her strength. She ended up second which is where she probably would’ve finished if the race was run in a more traditional manner.

3rd      Glitter Bright      Broken Spoke Stables     Hernandez B J Jr

I just get the feeling this natural closer needs another furlong these days as she always seems to be arriving too late at this level. Running through to third she was closing on the first two but the soft ground blunted the closing speed even more than the race engine does and she never looked like getting there.

4th       Jessica Alba         Arindel        Garcia Mar

Last of the four she ran a race which i have seen often in the last few months where the leaders kick on and the stalkers run like the old front runners and weaken. It may be that she was most affected by the off track because this was a poor effort so we will probably see a better filly on a dry track.
