Genghis Happened closed to win Friday’s 17th running of the G3 Miss PS at PIM as she completed 6-furlongs in 1:09.42 to finish three-quarters of a length in front of a game Queen Mother.  The G3 Miss PS victory was the fourth in a row for the Arindel-trained filly and first such tally at the graded level.  She now has six wins in twelve starts and earnings of $299.240.

When the gates opened, it was a mad dash for early supremacy as four horses went forward to challenge for the lead.  From the rail out, Peace At Dawn, Texas Holdem, Paris Pinnacle Party, and Queen Mother were all aggressively handled out of the gate.  Queen Mother was pushed forward as she tried to clear the other three runners, and she was actually helped just a bit by Paris Pinnacle Party as that runner backed-off a tad so that Queen Mother was able to move to the three path as she posted a :22.64 opening quarter.  While the three that broke with her were all within a length of the leader, the eventual winner, moved-up from the back to race four wide and three lengths off of the pace.

Queen Mother gradually inched further ahead throughout the turn, and she exited the turn running in the two-path on a clear length lead.  Peace At Dawn stayed on the fence with Texas Holdem and Paris Pinnacle Party stacked to her outside.  Genghis Happened was another length off of that trio, and she was traveling in the four-path.  Drifting out as she reached the top of the lane, Queen Mother posted a :45.41 half mile.  There was a four-horse line of pursuers just over a length off of her pace, but Paris Pinnacle Party and Genghis Happened were traveling best of that quartet.

Queen Mother was almost two-lengths clear with a furlong to go, but Paris Pinnacle Party and Genghis Happened were starting to eat into their deficit as they raced on the leader’s outside.  Woketard moved to fourth, while running on the leader’s inside, as the five-furlong split was posted in :57.17.  Genghis Happened left Paris Pinnacle Party and drew even with Queen Mother with sixty yards to run.  Queen Mother battled hard, but Genghis Happened made the pass in deep stretch and was able to build an almost full length advantage by the time she hit the wire in 1:09.42.  Queen Mother held on for the place honors as she finished a half-length in front of Woketard as the latter nosed-out Paris Pinnacle Party for the show money.  Completing the order of finish were Grand Central, Texas Holdem, and Peace At Dawn.

Congratulations to Genghis Happened and Arindel on their victory in the G3 Miss PS at PIM.
