Winning for the third time in four career starts, Keeper Of Time used a late rally to take down the 3rd installment of The Audubon at CD. Keeper Of Time set a new stake’s record as he completed 9-furlongs on the CD turf in 1:45.64. Saturday’s share of the $200.000 purse improved his bankroll to $233.400 and should set him up nicely for a summer campaign against some of the division’s best.
Breaking in the back of the field, Keeper Of Time waited patiently as Tsaraki Moon took the field through their early paces with Gendarmerie du Comte giving chase. The advantage was close to two lengths after a :47.14 half-mile split with Keeper Of Time another two lengths back. While Gendarmerie du Comte moved to ramp-up the pressure, Tsaraki Moon posted a three-quarter split in 1:10.32 and Keeper Of Time started advancing up the rail.
The eventual winner tipped-out off the rail to commence his rally in full; however, Gendarmerie du Comte moved into his path. Keeper Of Time was quickly taken back down to the pine and kept progressing. As the field moved around the turn, Gendarmerie du Comte pushed his chips into the pot and began to bear down on Tsaraki Moon, but Keeper Of Time was moving better than both of those rivals and was 3rd within two-lengths at the top of the lane,
Commencing his rally in full, Keeper Of Time would be the first to pass Tsaraki Moon as they moved into the final sixteenth and he powered home a length in front as he set a new stakes record with his final time of 1:45.64. Gendarmerie du Comte did get by Tsaraki Moon to complete the exacta and trifecta, respectively as Full Speed and Wiggling Road completed the order of finish.
