The Brooklyn – Grade II

1 1/2 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $400.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st   Stolen   D J C Racing Stables   Franco M

One thing we know about HRP is that if your stable is in a slump then it is very hard work to get a winner but when the opposite is true pretty much anything you send to the races gets all the luck and runs lengths better. It would be unfair to put this trainers success today down to luck because they have been a top stable here for a while now but there is no doubt that today this stable was having one of those days. Last and pretty much detached from the leaders on just a slightly better than above average pace it looked like he would do what most horses do in that situation and stay last. However today he grew wings that Zenyatta would have been proud of and flew home for what was a fairly comfortable length win. I have no idea where to put this win with regards to the rest of the routing division as he had only won one race in his last fifteen attempts before today but just going on his works and todays performance he could be ready to go on to better things…..as long as the streak holds for the trainer!

2nd   Puppet Master   Spankys Barn   Saez L

He too finished off very strongly for second showing he is no one trick pony after his grade one win over seven furlongs last time. At HRP a good horse is a good horse over whatever trip so this great effort was not unexpected and it does give the owner plenty of options going forward.

3rd   Eagle Mountain   Mb Stables   Hernandez C J

Made the lead and had kicked into a clear lead with 2 furlongs to run and it looked like Mb was going to mastermind another big win. Whether the horse failed to stay or the new race engine mark 2 isn’t quite as kind to front runners as it once was he looked a tired horse down the stretch and did well to hold on for third. It is difficult to know where to put this effort going forward and i am not sure this is a BC Classic winner but he is sure to win a good race before the end of the year.

4th   Spankersville   The Sidley Stud   Castellano J J

Like the first two came form a long way back to grab fourth in a decent effort.
