A bit of the old wide gate speed push saw this one ping the gates like he was on a catapult and he easily cleared the others to get a rail run. He had an unchallenged lead the whole way and as they hit the stretch his opposition was busy filling the width of the track rather than making any serious runs and he never looked like getting caught. This was a masterclass in wide gate tactics from a horse that is good enough to win going against his natural running style and that is always a noteworthy effort. The stable has got themselves another early type that looks BC bound.

2nd   Stormy Jones   Arindel   Garcia Mar

Even after only five starts we can see this one is going to be one of those super consistent types who is always going to give his best. Held up a little he started his run far too late to catch the winner but was covering the last furlong quicker than anything else which bodes well for his future.

3rd   Terran Destiny   Barcelona Farms   Gaffalione T

Whilst the winner took option A from the wide gate this one took the only other option which of course is the exact opposite. Way behind early he had to overcome traffic and side steps which saw him join the grandstand to make his run. He flew through at the end and for me looked the one runner in this race that will go in my black book. The trainer will have to go away and think about getting him some early pace as so far he has demonstrated none but i am pretty sure when he gets up in trip it will be less of a problem.

4th   Lambeau   Bigchief Stables   Gutierrez R

The trainer managed to get him a good position stalking the pace but he did a lot of work early on and paid the price down the stretch. He didn’t quicken but he didn’t weaken either so i think this was a decent enough effort in the circumstances.
