Love Of The People didn’t exactly fire in the BEL Oaks (GI) in her previous start to Saturday’s ONT Colleen Stakes (GIII)… well, she fired today. Sent of as the 7/2 second choice by the bettors, and the top
choice from me, the Mb Stables trained chestnut filly sat off of the early fractions, closed well, splitting horses nearing the sixteenth pole, and held off all challengers to take this flat mile turf stakes. The final running time was 1:33.58 as she scored by a neck over Mon Dieu, then another neck to Lotta Carnival in third, with post time favorite Time And Again taking the minor money.
Love Of The People is a 3yo chestnut filly by Pumba – Mini Royale, by Peppermint Moon, and she was bred by Patterson Stables in Fla. This was her fourth win from seven starts, her third this season and she now has lifetime earnings of $273.760. Congrats to the Connections!

Love Of The People broke alertly, was taken off of the pace racing 2p, began to move forward into the lane, splitting horses late, won driving. Mon Dieu tracked the pace from an inside position to the lane, fanned out for the drive, engaged leader and took the lead at the furlong marker, overtaken late, game effort. Lotta Carnival rated off of the pace, inside trip, saved ground through the turn and down the lane, no exucse. Time And Again set the pace to the furlong marker, tired. Tropical Mama 2p to the far turn, moved widest of all for the drive, evenly. Zin trailed, passed tiring rivals late. Sheena The Westie tracked the leader to the lane, tired. Judicous State wide trip, tired.
