A full field of very talented fillies lined up for the Sorrento Stakes. Four of them were already stakes winners. Two came close in graded company. But at the end of the day, only one of them graduated to graded stakes winner. Ignore Tucker (La Canada Racehorses) came from mid-pack to win by 1/2 length in a thriller.

The gates opened and four fillies came out on top. Commendation (Fractious) quickly stuck a head in front of Your Demise (Luz International), Temperature (Aer Stables) and Count The Souls (Chili King Stables). But none of them yielded and they hit the backstretch in tandem. Just behind them, Ignore Tucker had good position just in front of Apache Farm (El Primero Rodeo) and Spun Around (Mb Stables).

They reached the turn with Your Demise in front of Commendation. Temperature held the rail in third with Count The Souls to her outside. Ignore Tucker and Apache Farm ran stride for stride behind them with Spun Around (Mb Stables) to their outside. Chopsticks (NJ Vets) sat eighth, just four lengths behind the leader.

Around the turn not much changed. Then at the head of the stretch, Your Demise opened up half a length on Commendation as the two started to separate themselves from the pack. Ignore Tucker followed Commendation until she found an opening between Commendation and Count The Souls. Ignore Tucker and Apache Farm took advantage and surged toward the leaders. Spun Around made a move on the outside, but it was too little too late.

With a sixteenth mile to run, Ignore Tucker struck the lead with Apache Farm right with her. At the wire it was Ignore Tucker first, then Apache Farm. Your Demise held on for third and Commendation took fourth.

For Ignore Tucker, it was the third win in four starts, including this one and a win in the Debutante at CD. By Fox Ruler out of Exclusive View (Perfect Command), La Canada’s homebred filly just increased her career earnings to $297.000. Congratulations to La Canada Racehorses and Ignore Tucker.
