Yellow Ribbon Handicap – Grade 2 – $250.000
DMR – 1 1/16 Mile – Turf
For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Up
August 13, 2022
The field of four left the gate together, but just a few strides from the start, Gummy (High Voltage) shot to the lead and quickly opened up by 1 3/4 lengths. Into the first turn, Adrift At Sea (Threshold) gave chase in second with Shes One Of A Kind (Maxmillion Farm) third and Charlotte de Shark (Aarons Hosses) last.
Not much changed around the turn. Adrift At Sea cut the lead to a length but Gummy wasn’t willing to give any ground. On the turn for home, Adrift At Sea cut the lead to 1/2 length and Shes One Of A Kind started her run between the two leaders. It was Shes One Of A Kind that caught Gummy and took control at the head of the stretch. With a furlong to run, the field of four were covered by one length. Shes One Of A Kind looked strongest, but Charlotte de Shark wasn’t done yet. She caught Shes One Of A Kind in the shadow of the wire and the two hit the finish nose for nose. In the end it was Shes One Of A Kind by a nose.
It was the twenty-third start for the four-year-old filly by Combastic out of Glittering (Engine Failure). Bred in CA by Brh Stables, Shes One Of A Kind was purchased from LionKing Stables in April 2020 for $35.000 as an unraced two-year-old. The win brings her earnings to $262.170. Congratulations to Maxmillion Farm and Shes One Of A Kind!
