Saranac – Grade 3 – $200.000 Purse
KD – For Three Years Old
One Mile and a Sixteenth – InTurf
9/3/2022

It was a high voltage win for Elite Fire. After getting off to a slow start, the three-year-old gelding proved the race was far from over. By the end of the mile and sixteenth, Elite Fire (High Voltage) had passed the entire field of seven and pulled away by a length.

Declassified Eros (Invicta Group Llc) broke best of all and quickly opened up by three lengths. Mezzogiorno (Nakamura Stables), Disciplinary (Nakamura Stables) and On The Seventh Day (Calia Stables) made up the first flight behind him. Deactivation (Mb Stables) trailed them in fifth with Elite Fire and Mr Shark (Arindel) just behind him in the early going.

As the field passed under the wire for the first time and approached the turn, Declassified Eros led by 3 1/2. Disciplinary ran second on the outside with Mezzogiorno and On The Seventh Day to his inside. Mr Shark and Deactivation were stride for stride in fifth and Elite Fire trailed the leader by 6 1/4 lengths.

On the turn, Mr Shark made a big move and left Deactivation and Elite Fire behind, setting his sights on the three vying for second.

Declassified Eros’ lead dwindled to 2 3/4 lengths on the backstretch. Disciplinary still held on to second with On The Seventh Day in third on the rail. Mr Shark caught Mezzogiorno but took a while to get past him. Deactivation and Elite Fire still trailed.

Around the far turn, Elite Fire swung five wide to make his move while Deactivation took the inside route. Disciplinary and On The Seventh Day cut the lead to 1 1/4 length. Mezzogiorno faded to last.

Into the stretch, Disciplinary was 1/2 length behind Declassified Eros. On The Seventh Day held on to third while Deactivation looked for running room on the inside. Elite Fire was flying on the outside. He took the lead with a furlong to run.  The race was for second. Deactivation split the seam between On The Seventh Day and Disciplinary in the shadow of the wire, with Disciplinary holding on for third.

It was the fifth win in thirteen starts for Elite Fire, bringing his earnings to $359.050. The three-year-old gelding is by Elite out of Stormy Fire (Phuneios). It was the second win in a row and the first graded win for High Voltage’s gelding. Congratulations to Elite Fire and High Voltage!
