Not Such a Quiet Return as The Pilgrim Is Turned into a Bloodbath

The Pilgrim – Grade II [BC]
1 1/16 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Open 2 Year Olds.

1st Quiet Return Allinthegate Gaffalione T

The brisk early pace certainly helped this one as it settled back early on just worse than midfield. After his impressive maiden win and sizzling 1.35 flat work the one question was whether he would get the trip in race conditions and boy did he answer that question in emphatic style. Bursting clear he won by three easy lengths which on a dry track at HRP is like winning a normal race by ten lengths. Bred by the trainer they will be thrilled by this performance and whilst he has a slight conformation bias to shorter trips he looks that good that he could be a superstar in the making over any trip.

2nd Suave Mb Stables Cedillo A

This one certainly out ran his works and his race track performances to date but was comprehensively beaten by the winner and it would take a good imagination to see how he could turn the tables if they meet again in the BC.

3rd American Grandeur TwinTowersRacing Velazquez J R

Stalking the brisk pace i was worried about his stamina and it certainly seemed to give out when they hit the stretch. He kept on pretty well for third which is brave if he does have stamina worries but at only 15.2hh he may just be a little less forward than some and could grow into the trip.

4th Iceberg Slim Fractious Saez L

Was right on speed here which considering the good clip they went was always going to leave him gasping down the stretch. This was the furthest he has been by a long way and whilst fourth was a pretty promising result one does feel that despite a more routing bias he may need a mile or less at the moment.
