La Roo Lights It Up, Takes My Dear at GP

4     GP       The FL Sire Stakes – My Dear

$400.000   2yoF                  1 1/16m  Dirt                118lbs

Bit of an upset in Saturday’s The FL Sire Stakes – My Dear, as Our Athletes’ La Roo, dismissed at 16/1 odds, closed from off of the pace and ran off late to score by a length.  The final running time was 1:421 for the mile and a sixteenth over the Fast GP main oval.   Mirepoix, the 5/2 post-time favorite set the pace to the final sixteenth but couldn’t hold off the eventual winner, holding the pace safe.  Mind Game was a length back in third, then two more to Tactfully, taking the minor money.  Nine lengths covered the field.

La Roo is a 2yo bay filly by Our Dark Knight, – Roo, by The Rook, and she was bred by her owner, Our Athletes, here in Fla.  This was her second win from five starts and she continues an impressive record of 2-2-1  while taking her lifetime earnings to $325.050.  Congrats to the Connections!

La Roo rated back off of the pace with an inside trip, responded when asked into the far turn, circled foes from the far outside striking the lead at the sixteenth pole, won driving.  Mirepoix set the pace to the final sixteenth, headed, game effort.  Mind Game off a step slow, circled up first turn to stalk the pace, fanned out for the drive, evenly.  Tactfully was not a factor.  Siouxbiscuit tracked the pace to the far turn, tired.  Sapphire Falls was never involved.
