SA Sprint Championship – Grade 2 – $200.000
SA – For Three Yeas Olds and Upward
6 Furlongs – Dirt
October 1, 2022
West Coast Party (Martyparty) went into the gate in the SA Sprint Championship a 30-1 longshot, the longest shot on the board, and came out a graded stakes winner. He also came in riding high on a win in the $100.000 Rumson, but his only start in graded company saw him finish eleventh of twelve. It was his only stumble this year, a year in which he has not finished worse than third in five starts. There was some promise there, and he lived up to it on Saturday.
Here’s the full order of finish:
#1 West Coast Party (Martyparty) Stalked the lead and made a move in the stretch to win by a nose.
#2 Surprise Authority (Spankys Barn) Led at the first two calls but had to settle for second.
#3 Ukrainian Victory (Gdp Inc) Came from off the pace to take third.
#4 Fifty Cent (Night Rider Stables) Close to the lead throughout, faded to fourth in the stretch.
#5 Audioslave (Alydar Stables) Even performance, but never involved.
$6 Demon (Wood Duck Stables) Stalked the pace, then faded to sixth.
#7 Dream Rummer (La Canada Racehorses) Never a factor
#8 Play Along (Nakamura Stables) Never a factor.
West Coast Party, by King Party out of West Coast Cars (Pinnacle West), was bred by owner Martyparty in CA. The win brings his career earnings to $314.980. Congratulations to Martyparty and West Coast Party!
