Breeders Futurity – Grade I [BC] [KYD]
KEE Race #6 1 1/16m Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $600.000 For Two Year Olds.
1st Shoo Fly Lazy Eye Bocachica A
We knew the trip would suit this one and we knew he had the class the only question was how close he could stay early on to not get shuffled back from the rail draw. As it turned out it went perfectly for the home bred who gave the trainer their first grade one and the thrill of having a live BC chance and maybe even a TC runner next year. The breeders will be scratching their heads over this ones ability but the trainer has had faith in their in house breeding stock and i am sure the $2.50 that is available to rent out the stallion will be snapped up now.
2nd Loko Moko South Shore Stables Franco M
The good old flip flopping of form saw this one who beat Shoo Fly in the Best Pal and then lost to him in the DMR Futurity finish behind him again today but i was pleased to see him go back to front running after a closing effort last time. Some how the trainer needs to find the happy medium before the BC for this one as he always seems to struggle at the end when leading but hasn’t got a fast enough finish to be a closer. Having said that it maybe better to let him go to the front because he is certainly happier there and ran his career best race today.
3rd Ben Nevis Hippyheart Velazquez J R
Had a very tough draw today to run the sort of race he did but he was strong at the end and i feel that this was a pretty good run despite being fairly soundly beaten. The trainer will be thrilled with their home bred and he may just sneak into the BC, if he does and gets a decent draw i wouldn’t put it last him to turn this form around.
4th Cop With Coffee Martyparty Silvera Ru
It is a huge shame that this home bred wont be going to the BC because i felt his effort today from this draw and his maiden win last time would make him a serious chance. However missing the BC can be a blessing in disguise sometimes and i think this one has a bright future so he will stay firmly on my list as a TC hope.
