2 WO Princess Elizabeth Stakes
$250.000 2yoF Canada Bred 1 1/16m Dirt 120lbs
North of the border we go and we catch a lucky field of seven youngster fillies set to go a mile and a sixteenth in the Princess Elizabeth Stakes, for the CA-bred types. I’m going to give Triple Decker the nod today, as the ebony filly changes hands to Maxmillion Farm, but that fourth beaten a length in the Pocahontas (GIII) is just a stand-out effort to me. A repeat of that race should get the job done here. Let’s try to add some value and put Balius in the second spot. She just broke maiden last out, but it was over this track and it was a wet one, and we may see some precipitation for this race… it could spell win.
Here’s The Field –
|
Ginger Goddess | The Sidley Stud | Salles L | 120 | 7/2 |
She’s been tough of late, winning two of her last three starts including the Sadie at HST, where she beat CA-bred stakes company. She missed a head vs. similar, and broke maiden at PID prior to that, so she’s sharp right now.
|
Centre Ville | Mo Mentum Farm | Husbands P | 120 | 7/1 |
Got the job done last out taking down MSW foes at ALB, drawing away to win by two in that maiden win. She was third at DMR facing maiden claimers, so she looks to be on the improve and could make some noise in this one.
|
Devils Bride | Fractious | Elliott S | 120 | 8/1 |
Broke maiden at LS in her third trip to the starting gate, then came back to be eighth in the Sorority (GII) at DMR. Next, she set the pace in an Alw race at MTH, but kind of fell apart late, ending up fourth beaten four lengths… she needs to turn it around to be part of this one.
|
Stung | Mb Stables | Lopez P | 120 | 4/1 |
Broke maiden at first asking over this track, and followed that up with an Alw win at LS. She was sixth on a wet track, so we can overlook that, then ran big to be third in the Sadie at HST. If it’s wet again today, I’m not sure I’d be as high on her.
|
Genuine Desire | Nakamura Stables | Centeno D E | 120 | 8/1 |
Broke maiden in her second trip to the gate, getting the job done at LAD and came from far back on the grass to get that win. They take her longer and back to the dirt, so a lot of questions … but she may be a runner.
|
Triple Decker | Maxmillion Farm | Gonzalez Ru | 120 | 7/2 |
She’s been a solid runner and changes hand prior to this one… She broke maiden at DMR and came back to be fourth in the Pocahontas (GIII) at CD before Max plunked down $125.000 to snag this one. She looks like a tough nut today.
|
Balius | Threshold | Murphy Ci | 120 | 7/1 |
She’s never been off of the board in three starts and broke maiden last out, getting home by two over this track. It was muddy that afternoon, and that could play into her hand as the rain may be in the forecast for Saturday.
