This was the race that wrapped up the claiming title for Asgar as a remarkable day of success was crowned with a one two here. Despite the fact that he had never won a race beyond seven furlongs his form was very solid at this sort of level recording a second ina sprint grade three early in the year. I have said it a million times here at HRP the distance of a race doesn’t mean the same as it does in real life and good horses can easily switch between five furlongs and 12 furlongs so this wasn’t a surprise that this four year old flew home to win by a length. Held up in behind he was ridden to use his speed at the right end of the race and as we had seen in earlier races the race engine doesn’t cope with pace instructions on off tracks so very often the leaders go too fast for the conditions. It all worked out perfectly as he picked a path and flew down the stretch for a great win.

Perfect tactics for a trainer with multiple runners this one was chosen to set a strong pace as the other runner was taken back to conserve energy. It all went perfectly to plan and this one showed plenty of courage to keep on strongly enough to hold onto second.
