Showed a bit of improvement last time when just getting beaten in a similar race and she does see to be the sort that will benefit from an inside draw and maybe an easy lead. Her work times are reasonable and i do like it when front runners get this draw because they don’t have to do too much early on to get on pace. As long as she doesn’t get spinny legs and isn’t taken on too much i think she has a good chance.
2 Pirate Code Big Guns Stables Moran D
She ran very well when running on nicely into fourth in the WO Oaks against a much better field but then failed on pace when switched to turf last time. I like her credentials for this and feel she is a bit better on dirt so with a great draw i think she can settle just behind the lead and may be best down the stretch.
3 Aquifer Mo Mentum Farm Husbands P
She was right upside Confederate Warrior last time in the ONT Damsel and looked to have the beating of that runner had the stretch been ten yards further. The two are bound together again today in similar draws so once again it will be close and you may as well toss a coin to see who will come out best.
4 Strawberry Latte Allinthegate Hernandez R M
Just to make this race all the more difficult to pick a winner, this one won the ONT Damsel by a nose with both Aquifer and Confederate Warrior very close. She ran the stalk that day and all three have almost identical draws so one would assume things will go the same way again however there is the small problem that this one gets a penalty for her win and 2 pounds for a matter of inches will make this very tough for her.
5 Poison Candy Glorify Stables Crawford J
All four runners in the ONT Damsel were covered by a length and this was the last of them however you would have to say on paper she still looks like she may be the best of them. She certainly has the best form on paper and she may have just needed the run last time after 2 months off the track. I would imagine the exact opposite result could well happen here so she would have to be a chance of winning.
6 Appleton Night Rider Stables Gallardo A A
Just three starts and the winner of a little maiden over five furlongs last time and she gets the outside draw, no chance? Well think again, this is HRP and anything could happen.
SUMMARY
I like Poison Candy to turn the ONT Damsel form around here. Her form previous to that race was superior and the race was one of those muddling affairs so if this is more competitive early on i think her class may prevail.
