Mickey Just Keeps Winning, Takes HOL Derby

12/3/22

  10   DMR    HOL Derby (GI)

        $400.000      3YO      1 1/8m Turf    122lbs

Mickey has had a great year… no, not the one in FLA, the South Shore Stables’ owned gelding that didn’t find the TC Trail to his liking, but has made a kings-ransom on the sod.  Put another feather in that cap as he took Saturday’s HOL Derby (GI) at DMR by three-quarters of a length, drawing clear in the lane, then holding off the late charges from longshot Elite Fire.  It was just a nose back to Crazy Ivan in third, then a neck to Keeper Of Time getting the minor share.  The final running time was 1:45.37 for the mile and an eighth, and the turf course was listed Firm.

Mickey is a 3yo chestnut gelding by Proud  Chai – Fine Skeleton, by Skeleton Key, and he was bred here in Cal by his owner, South Shore Stables.  This was his eighth win from seventeen starts, six of those coming this season, and he now has an impressive bankroll of $4,472.400.  Congrats to the Connections!
