1st: #4 Newry Jewelry (T Boy Racing/A.J. Juarez Jr): Taken back off of the pace after breaking with the field. Began advancing in the turn, continuing widest of all as they entered the stretch. Was moving best a furlong out, took over a sixteenth out and increased her advantage through the wire.
2nd: #1 Swift Way (Bears Stable): Broke with the field and was able to maintain rail position with clear run in front of her. Moved up the rail as she entered the stretch but couldn’t match the winner’s strides while clearly second-best.
3rd: #3 Cassius Clay (Mb Stables): Allowed rival to set the tempo while she stayed connected entering the turn. Moved inside a path as she made her bid and briefly grabbed the lead at the 5/16 pole but couldn’t keep top two at bay.
Newry Jewelry improves to 4-2-0-1 with $86.520 in earnings for conditioner T Boy Racing. The winner completed 6-furlongs in 1:09.68 to just miss equaling the stake’s record. Congratulations to Newry Jewelry and T Boy Racing for winning the La Senora Stakes at SUN!
