7 FG Krantz Memorial Stakes
$100.000 4yo&Up F&M 1 1/16m Turf 123pds +penalties
We get a nice group of older ladies set to go a mile and a sixteenth over the FG turf course, and we look at the field for the Krantz Memorial Stakes. I landed on Gazing Angie in this one, as I like her consistent style and the win over this track last out in the Hope Stakes. She gets a two-pound add for that win, but I think she runs right through that impost and takes another win. I also think Saddle Up is horse to watch in this one. She has been hanging around vs. graded types and may find this a bit softer, which could lead to her taking home the big prize.
Here’s The Field –

She’s been running well since leaving the free side of the house, including a nice win last out in the Miss America over the GG turf. Six wins from twenty-six starts and eight other on-the-board results… she can run.

Saddle Up | Our Athletes | Lopez P | 123 | 7/2 |
Both of her ’22 wins came in her last three starts, both Alw company and both on the weeks. She was on-the-board in a number of graded races, so this could be a spot where the weight breaks her way, and she could be the one to get past.

Monkey Pox | Tockyocky | Geroux F | 123 | 7/1 |
Only three starts for this one, but she’s making the most of her time at the track. Two wins, breaking maiden at CT then taking down Alw types at TAM, so it’s up the ladder and a move from the main track to the lawn. She had a nice am gallop here, so it looks like the move to the new surface could keep her hot-hand going.

Gazing Angie | Sim Speed Stable | Hernandez C J | 125 | 7/2 |
Four wins last season, and they dropped her in for a tag where this barn jumped on the opportunity to move her into their shed-row. Immediate returns, as she won the Hope Stakes in her first start for them, and she comes into this race looking very good – will the two pounds make a difference?

Cracked Actress | Rheingold Stables | Alvarado F T | 123 | 4/1 |
Four wins from seven starts in ’22, so there’s no doubt that this one knows how to get her picture taken. She loves the lawn and with four wins from her last five starts, I think you have to give her a big look, even though her only off-the-board race in that string was her only stakes start.

Browse | TwinTowersRacing | Velazquez J R | 123 | 6/1 |
Another that switched from the free-side and looked good closing out the ’22 season with a win on a wet turf course at GG, showing good speed and getting home at 99/1 odds. She had a solid am gallop getting ready for this, and I think you have to give her a look, especially if she has some odds.

Boutique | First Class Stable | Beschizza A | 123 | 7/1 |
She was winless in ’22 until she went to PRX in her last start of the season, then she ran big to take home a nice win vs. a good group of horses. A win and three thirds from five starts is actually a fair season, so she could be overlooked here, and make you pay for it.
