For Fillies Three Years Old Foaled in NY
January 22, 2023
Hot Angie looks primed for her first stakes win, but there are five fillies that will try to stop her, including Sandrine. Hot Angie brings a wealth of experience, while Sandrine brings raw talent.
Here’s the field:
1 Hot Angie (Night Rider Stables) Just a maiden win for this filly and that came in August. Since then, she’s been close in state-bred stakes company, including a third in the NY Stallion Stakes – Fifth Avenue last out. Like her chances in this one.
2 Liberty Lake (D J C Racing Stables) Another one with just a maiden win, but this filly has been trying open stakes with not as much success. This looks like a good spot for her, but she’ll have to bring her A-game to win here.
3 New Albany (Our Athletes) Two starts and two wins for this filly. First try in stakes company. Works aren’t as strong as some in the field. Will have her work cut out for her.
4 Occlumency (Jerry Garcia Racing) Broke her maiden last out in state-bred company. Might be a bit outclassed here.
5 Sandrine (Wood Duck Stables) Back-to-back wins coming into this race. Won a $127.000 N1X last out, which is comparable to this race. Very nice filly could be there at the wire.
6 Steves Lovey Dovey (La Canada Racehorses) Second in the Lady Finger Stakes in NY-bred company two starts back. Finished 2 lengths behind Sandrine last out. Remains to be seen if she’s up to the rematch.
