Wild Weather Gets a Soft Trip in Sheepshead Bay

Race #4 14:20 The Sheepshead Bay – Grade II
1 3/8 Mile Inner Turf Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Wild Weather, trained by Downwind Stables
Scooted into the lead and was quickly clear of her field. After that it never looked
like anything was going to get near her and she held on by a comfortable two lengths.
Bought for just ten dollars a few months ago this is another example of how a horse
can randomly improve from overnights to graded winner. She has shown some snippets of
ability in the past though and some decent work times helped her start the race as an
unlikely favourite.

2nd Volare, trained by Axeman
The winner of The Orchid in the same time this race was won in she just could not peg
the winner back after giving her an easy lead for the entire race. Another good effort
by the six year old though and she clearly isn’t done with just yet.

3rd Love Me Do, trained by Maverick Racing
Started in third and stayed in third for a fair run.

4th Broomsticks Copy, trained by Drabfantasy
How the BC turf winner didn’t start favourite for this race is a mystery to me as was
the fact that this filly could only whack away in fourth behind some clearly inferior
fillies and mares. It was clearly the slowly run race that affected things but i still
could not see why she didn’t run better than fourth.

5th T S Bay
Trailed the field on a slow pace, the jockey should be shot because she never had a chance.
