With five of the seven horses running in the Fritchie Stakes having run in the BC just three months ago, there was no doubt that the race had the potential to be great. The other two in the field that were not BC runners had plenty of potential as well, and one of them would be the one to score the victory. That would be Theres No Doubt, who was also our pick to win. She had been on great form, and after a couple of near misses in both the La Brea and the Inside Information, the filly gets the job done here in the Fritchie. Savoring this result is her trainer, Angelos Stable, and jockey A R Rodriguez. For each, it is their first win in the race. Congratulations to them! The time of the victory was 1:21.92, which is right in line with other recent winning times. Let’s take a look at it!

(1/4 Mile- :22.76)- Out in front at the start is Mo Mentum Farm’s Canary For One, who moves from her outside post to clear the field and get over to the rail. She’ll hold a length lead on the post time favorite, Christina G, from Mb Stables. That one is along the side, and also stalking the frontrunner are both Lindeman Prairie’s Last Lady and the 2021 BC F & M Sprint winner, Slckmoment Laga. Our eventual winner, Angelos Stable’s Theres No Doubt runs fifth and about two lengths from the lead. Curlina (Arindel) is beside her, and the back, it’s Ifyerwokeyerajoke (TwinTowersRacing).

(1/2 Mile- :46.12)- Canary For One holds the same length advantage over the second quarter mile as she leads the field around the turn. Slckmoment Laga and Christina G are even for second, even with one being in a five wide position and the other being on the rail. Last Lady is fourth and looking to get a little closer to these two. Theres No Doubt maintains her pace and is still around two lengths from the lead. Curlina is her shadow on the inside, and there is a little bit of gap to Ifyerworkyerajoke.

(Top of Stretch, 1.8F To Go)- Canary For One handled most of the turn well but starts to look vulnerable on the front end as we move into the stretch. For now, she is still the leader, but Christina G, who has had a strong rail trip thus far, is poised to take the top spot imminently. Theres No Doubt was especially good on the second half of the turn, and is now just a length from the lead, as she pulls up to the inside of Last Lady, and she’s bought company in the form of Curlina, who is also looking strong. Slckmoment Laga is looking lost at this point, far from the great champion she has been. Ifyerwokeyerajob has not woken up yet to make a move.

(Finish- 1:21.92)- Christina G is the first one to make an impression in the stretch, grabbing the top spot and looking like she may hold on to it. With a furlong to go, she still had a length on Theres No Doubt, who was still battling with Curlina and Canary For One. Approaching the wire, she began to cut into Christina G’s lead, and that one could not find it in her to respond to this challenge. Theres No Doubt was happy to take advantage, and gets up just in time to grab the victory by a head in a photo over Christina G. It’s about a length to Curlina and another to Canary For One. Ifyerwokeyerajoke, Last Lady, and Slckmoment Laga round it out.

About The Winner- Theres No Doubt, trained by Angelos Stable and ridden to victory by A R Rodriguez, is a four-year-old filly by Chai Bay and is out of Pink Doubt. She was bred in California as a first quarter two-year-old by LionKing Stables and acquired by Angelos, via Wood Duck Stables with a $75.000 claim in January 2022. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her sixth in 20 starts, her fourth stake win and second graded win. Her career earnings are now $1,046.110.
