Alice Springs Wins Cincinnati Trophy Stakes

Cincinnati Trophy Stakes

$150.000 – TP – 1 Mile – Dirt

For Fillies Three Years Old

March 4, 2023

Alice Springs broke slowly and spent most of the mile closer to the back of the pack than the front. Around the turn for home, she had plenty of run but nowhere to go. Midway on the stretch a huge hole opened up and she wasted no time going through it and poking her head out at the other end to win by ¼ length over longshot Forlorn Hope who led at every call but the last one.

The KY Oaks points broke down like this: 20 points went to Alice Springs. Forlorn Hope came away with 8. Lysistrata earned 6 points. Chai Beast claimed 6 and Smokin went home with 2.

Complete order of finish:

1 Alice Springs (London Racing) Blocked but was able to come from well off the pace for the win.

2 Forlorn Hope (TwinTowersRacing) Set the pace and yielded in the shadow of the wire.

3 Lysistrata (Riggins Racing) Stalked the pace and finished a close 3rd.

4 Chai Beast (Serenity Stables) Came from behind and came up a length short.

5 Smokin Cara (Alydar Stables) Well behind throughout, then made a run in the stretch to finish 5th.

6 Touch Of Love (Mb Stables) Stalked the pace, outrun in the stretch.

7 Hard Pinnacle Party (Nakamura Stables) Mid-pack early, faded in the stretch.

7 Dusty Condo (Two Hearts One Love) Never involved.

9 Fancy Angie (Night Rider Stables) Not a factor.

10 Laughing Witch (Hunterman Stable) Mid-pack early, then faded.

11 Way Out West (Greyfriars Stable) Stalked the pace, then faded to last.

Alice Springs is by General Ferro out of We Will See (Cherokee Sunset) and was bred in CAL by the owner. In just three starts, Alice Springs has won $110.000 and has never been worse than second. Congratulations to Alice Springs and London Racing!
