The Fantasy – Grade 3 – $600.000
OP – 1 1/16 Mile – Dirt
For Fillies Three Years Old
April 1, 2023
One of three races this weekend with 100 KYO points on the line, this field has had some major shakeups with three scratches. The stars of the field are Spring Street and Siouxbiscuit, but they are far from the only competitors in this field with a shot at the winner’s share of 50 points.
Here’s the field:
1 Spring Street (High Voltage)
Back-to-back second place finishes coming into this race, one in the Forward Gal (Grade 3) and one in the Honeybee (Grade 3). Those performances earned her 28 KYO points. She’s going to need a few more to get into the gate the first Friday in May, and she just might get them here.
2 Siouxbiscuit (Mb Stables)
Won the Forward Gal (Grade 3), then finished ninth in her last start, the Davona Dale. That ninth-place finish was just a length behind the winner. She seems like a solid contender and she’s looking to add to her 28 points.
3 Snake Island (Night Mare Racing)
No points so far for this filly, and she’s got a big job ahead of her if she wants some of these. Her best performances have come in State-bred company and her only attempt in graded company resulted in a seventh-place finish in the Alexandra (Grade 2).
4 Water Demon (Chili King Stables)
Another one with no points so far. Won a $75.000 stake at SUN last start. This is her first attempt at graded level.
5 Rabbit Bay (Smokey Stover)
BC Juvenile Fillies winner has been struggling since. Finished eighth in her only graded start in the Starlet (Grade 1). She will need to get back to BC form to win here and with 31 points, she needs at least a second here.
6 But I Digress (YME Stable)
Just a maiden win for this one. Second in the NY-bred May Stakes last out. Will need a big effort to earn her first KYO points here.
7 Wyldewood (The Freakshow)
No points for this girl either. Her best performance came when she won the Letellier Memorial Stakes in December. Her only start beyond 7 furlongs came last out in allowance company where she finished third in the mud. Will be interesting to see what she can do at this distance on a dry track.
8 Ignore Tucker (Fractious)
Not much to recommend this filly. She hasn’t won since the Sorrento back in August. In fact, that’s the last time she hit the board. She’s going to have to step it up to compete here.
9 Muddy Buddy (Mb Stables) SCRATCH
10 Kailuia (Smokey Stover)
Another one trying to earn her first FYO points. Finished second two back at optional claimer level. But this is her first try at graded stakes and a tough spot for that.
11 Majestic Chai (TwinTowersRacing)
Earned her 19 points with a second in the Demoiselle (Grade 2) and a third in the Davona Dale (Grade 2). So close, you just know she’s going to break through and make it to the winner’s circle. And it wouldn’t be a surprise if she did it in this race.
12 Dolly P (Arindel) SCRATCHED
13 Yow (Royalty Stables)
A second in the Martha Washington and a win in the Busher earned this filly 58 KYO points. A few more would solidify her place in the KYO. And she could get some if not the lion’s share here.
14 Ruth Langmore (Luz International) SCRATCHED
15 Smokin Cara (Alydar Stables)
Won the ATBA Sales Stakes Fillies at TUP two starts back. Could not repeat in her next start in the Cincinnati Trophy Stakes last out but her fifth-place finish earned her 2 KYO points. She’s going to have a hard time adding to that total here.
