Neither of us had a clue when it came to picking horses in The FL Derby (GI) on Saturday evening, but what a race!! Sirius Black pressed or set the pace in this one, but it’s the last jump that matters and Alydar Stables‘ Keep Me Apprised, sent off at 23/1 odds, hit the wire when it counted, taking the win by a neck while stopping the time in a legitimate 1:482, and taking the big money to the bank. Sirius Black continued on well to earn the runner up spot for Arindel, in a tight finish for all of the prize money… it was a neck back to High In Hollywood in third, then a head to Hurly Road in fourth. Only nine lengths covered the field in this tightly contested prep.
