CD Race #7 6f Dirt Graded Stake
Purse $100.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.
1 Roller Coaster, trained by Blushing meadows
Looked pretty useful when she took the grade two Matron last year but then ran a terrible
race in the BC Juvenile Fillies and has taken a while to get her mojo back. A decent second
on seasonal debut proves theres not much wrong with her and of course as a three year old
she will probably have the measure of the older horses in the field. For me i need to see a
return to that Matron form before getting too confident about her despite some swift works.
2 Mourn, trained by Team 7 Illusions
Rested after winning the ONT Fashion last season she was brought back in Allowance company
in late january and looked strong in dead heating for the win. She disappointed in the mud
last time out when floundering into fifth after showing early speed in the Hendrie Stakes but
she is better than that. Of course as a four year old she has very little chance against the
three year olds so anywhere in the first four will be a good result.
3 Key West Minibus, trained by Night Rider Stables
She is having her best season so far in this type of company after having a few dabbles over the
years but not breaking through. Two nice seconds at grade two level preceded in disappointing
run in The Distaff Handicap last time but she is normally a consistent sprinter and may be the
best chance the olders have of splitting up the three year olds.
4 Enticing, trained by Heavens own
A month ago she wouldnt have had a chance at this level but since the three year olds have started
trouncing the older horses she comes right into it. She has the work times and won nicely last time
ou in Allowance company so i guess the only question is whether she has the hidden class gene she
will need to compete with the other three year olds.
5 First And Foremost, trained by Mb Stables
Started the season off with a roar in taking the grade two Santa Ynez Stakes and then ran a good
second in the Forward Gal. At that point it looked like the sky was the limit but two average
runs since have been a little disappointing. Again she is a three year old so should beat the
olders but she will need to return to form to beat the three year olds.
6 Indiana Superstar, trained by A And I Stables
Was bought for just $25 in March and looked a steal at that price in taking an Open Allowance at CD
at the first time of asking. She had a bit of graded stakes form prior to that sale and may turn
out to be one of the best older horses in the race.
7 Furious Missile, trained by Mb Stables
Has hit great form in her last two races and ticks all the boxes for this race bar one. Her works
times are the quickest in the race and she has the three year old weight allowance to put her
further ahead of half the field. Her trainer often follows this path taking a cheap allowance
before upping them in class and is very successful with it. The only drawback to her chances is the
outside post. If she can overcome the wide gate bias then she wins, simple as that.
SUMMARY
Of course a three year old will win, the question is which one. The fastest in the field is
Furious Missile but she has an outside gate to contend with so it will probably be closer than
it should be. Enticing may be next best with First And Foremost.
