1 Appreciate Mo Mentum Farm Stein J 121 —

Half the field get a two-pound advantage in this race and that for this filly at least looks like a decisive factor. Stepped up to longer trips in an attempt to make the KYO she drops back to sprinting and that could well be the key for her. She recorded a 92-speed figure in landing a big-ticket maiden at AQU last year and she has some of the best works in the race making her the likely favorite to win this race from the inside gate. She has a tendency to get back a little and that is the only worry, but she still looks a good bet here.

2 Rabbit Foot Nj Vets Moran D 121 —

It was an interesting choice to take this filly to the free track for her maiden win as she was working pretty well beforehand. She did however go to PEN where she won easily enough over this trip and has since put in some even better works suggesting that she may be up to this grade. She gets a great draw and if she can make the big step up in grade, she could well be the dark horse in the race.

3 Racket Sinner Riggins Racing Hernandez R M 123 —

It is always confusing when you have a free track maiden winner working better than a stakes winner but that’s not unusual at HRP as many of the horses seem to be basically the same. This filly took the Ruthless over seven furlongs but then failed in the Davona Dale over a mile suggesting that this sort of trip may be her best. Her last four speed figures have all been 90 or better and she hails from a stable that is looking to take up their former mantle as one of the top stables in the game.

4 Smokin Cara Alydar Stables Wilson E J 123 —

Another that went from sprinting to routes in an attempt to get in the KYO and she actually ran a cracker in the Fantasy when finishing like a train to be beaten just a length. Her works suggest she can sprint, so I would expect her to be competitive here.

5 Shes Got The Gas Threshold Salles L 123 —

An interesting entry, she came back after a break to win a stakes race at the free track but then just ran an average race in an optional claimer at fair level, so she is hard to weigh up. Her works are in the ballpark so she deserves her shot here if she can find a little extra in this class.

6 Suspect Quest Glorify Stables Crawford J 121 —

Stuck with the outside draw she came off a long break to run well in a TAM allowance and whilst that may not be this sort of level, she should gain some improvement from it.

SUMMARY

I think the weights may be the biggest factor here making Appreciate the likely winner. Of the others Racket Sinner looks the biggest danger but any of the others given some race engine luck and a bit of fairy dust could win this open looking race.
