2  GP    Royal Palm Juvenile Fillies

           $100.000   2yoF      5f Turf        118lbs

The freshman fillies head to the GP turf course for the Royal Palm Juv Fillies, a five-furlong dash that, as always, is full of intrigue.  You could almost play spin the bottle to make a choice here, but Loch Heat has the advantage of being the only two-time winner, so let’s give her the edge.  She broke maiden at CT then won debut and at TUP, so she certainly knows how.  She’s won on both wet and dry dirt, so surface seems to not matter.  Let’s go right next door and put Not About The Stars in the mix, as she looked good breaking maiden at SA in her only start.  Turf is a question, but she’s done everything right so far.  I also like Statuette today, and that one broke maiden at CT but it’s her turf works that makes me want to include her on the hot-list today.

Here’s The Field –

1
Valiant Madness    Angelos Stable    Saez S   118   8/1

Nice win (DH) at PRX to break maiden, which was a nice snap-back from that last place debut.  What a difference a start makes.  Worked on the grass here, but hard to make much out of it at 3f and on a soggy strip.

2
Silver Springs    South Shore Stables    Jaramillo E   118   5/1

Broke maiden at SA in her debut and shows a nice turf work at 5f over this track on the 29th.  She topped some nice horses in that win, so give her a look today.

3
Let Me Explain    Mb Stables    Diaz H R Jr   118   10/1

Still a maiden but was third in a quick race at WO in her debut, where she was only a neck back at the abbreviated distance.  Obviously, the big barn knows a good horse, so you know she has talent.  No grass works to show, so that’s an unknown.

4
Hypnotiq Nun    The Sidley Stud    Panici L   118   8/1

Nice stable mate win out in NM, but that wasn’t in especially fast time… but, a win is a win!  No turf works to see, so that remains a mystery, and I probably like her stable mate a bit better today… maybe a bit better than all of these.

5
Dracula    Smokey Stover    Perez Edg   118   4/1

Went wire to wire at PRX to score at first asking, and shows that DMR work, her only work, over the sod, so this one should take the green stuff right away.  I would not leave her off of your tickets.

6
La Gran Entrada    Bayou Star Farm    Sutherland C   118   4/1

Another first out winner, and she got the job done at LS in quick time.  She worked over this track, but on the main track, getting ready for today.  I like the way she goes and could be a very nice horse.

7
Ghostly Moonface    The Freakshow    Leon S   118   6/1

Won at first asking getting it done at TAM going the abbreviated 2f in quick time.   Her am gallops have been on the main track, so I’m not sure about the grass for this one, but her mom did win on it, so…

8
   Statuette    D J C Racing Stables    Bridgmohan J V   118   5/1

Nice win at CT in her debut, getting it done from off of the pace, if there is such a thing at four and a half.  I really like her am gallops, especially that 10-and-change six panel work.  I think she may be a horse to watch today.

9
   Violate    Luz International    Vasquez M A   118   7/2

Gotta love the way this one goes, getting the win at AQU vs. NY-bred maidens in her first trip to the starting gate, and shows a couple of sharp am gallops at PRX on the weeds, so it looks like she will love the going here.  She should be tough.

10
   Baby Shoes    High Voltage    Bridgmohan S X   118   5/1

Won as the post time favorite on debut at GG and has been working on the SA turf getting ready for today, so they definitely had this race in mind, or something on the weeds.  She looks like a runner.

11
Not About The Stars    Barcelona Farms    Zayas E J   118   7/2

Another first out winner, and she got it done in SoCal where they bring the big horses, so that win is certainly something to like.  No turf gallops that we can see, so that is a mystery.  Still, I have to think she has a big chance today.

12
Loch Heat    The Sidley Stud    Gonzalez El   118   3/1

Wowser, two starts, both wins, getting it done at CT on debut then taking the TUP Open Sprint Fut.  She was the favorite in both, so everyone knows she can run.  Sharp work at LS on the grass… all systems are GO!
