Smokin Cara Takes The Miss PS

The Miss PS – Grade III
6 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $150.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

1st Smokin Cara Alydar Stables Boyce F

Despite the fact that this one had won 3 of her four victories on a wet track before this she had proven at stakes level that she could run on a dry track and her works had been looking like she was ready to break into this class. Settling back off a strong early pace she picked up willingly and got up in the last half furlong winning by a neck. She has been kept busy with 5 starts already this year but she seems to be lapping up the hard work and could be one of those that makes hay against the older types towards the end of the year.

2nd Devils Bride Fractious Hernandez R M

Showed her excellent run in the Beaumont was no fluke by going very close here. Close to the fast pace her finishing kick was blunted, and she couldn’t hold the winner’s late effort but nonetheless she certainly is hitting some good form.

3rd Promise Me Girl Sim Speed Stable Lopez P

As I expected, she proved what a good claim she was by keeping on strongly into third beaten a shade under a length. This effort certainly proves she is much better than a claimer and the stable should have some fun with her going forward.

4th Dolly P Arindel Saez L

I thought the dry track would give her a big chance, but the race engine beat her by setting up a fast pace which blunted her finish. This trip may just be on the short side for her and stalking the fast pace was a bit of a lung buster and proved her undoing.
