10 LS Grand Prairie Turf Challenge
$150.000 3yo&Up 5f Turf 3yo 116lbs Older 122lbs
Stinky ol’ Texas where the only thing hotter than the weather is the bbq… and we look at the field for the Grand Prairie Turf Challenge, a five-furlong dash for the gents, and we have a nice field of eight for this one. I landed on Trippi Bay off of that stakes score on PRK Day. He has three wins this year, so he’s used to getting his picture taken, for sure. I’ll take Cp Copper In Me as the second choice. He’s never faced stakes company, but has been very solid at the Alw level, and a repeat of that CD race should certainly put him in the mix.
Here’s The Field –
I guess we can chalk-up that last place finish at GP as a bounce, but the new barn swooped in, bought him and won right back vs. OptAlw types at CD in very fast time as the 1.45 favorite. Four wins from thirteen starts, add in eleven on-the-board finishes and you know this one can get it.
Just missed on the soggy sod at CD running second by a nose in the Walker. Comes right back with less weight as a 3yo vs the older boys today, so there are a lot of reasons to like this one. He has a pair of wins this year, both at the OptAlw level and both sprint on the grass… he fits.
He won the Kenner at FG on soggy sod and has been two lengths back in each of his next three, all at the graded level. He was fourth in the BC Turf Sprint (GI) last year, and even at 8yo, he still possesses the ability to to pick em up and lay em down.
Lightly raced with only five starts, but he has two wins and a second from that batch, including a near miss in the Dessert Code at SA, in his most recent, and was fourth only beaten a length in the Texas Glitter at GP. You have to think he’s only going to get better and should step up big in this one.
Purchased for $75.000 after that tenth-place finish in the American Turf (GII) at CD, but the new barn shortened him up and won over that track vs. OptAlw types, the new connections seem to have him figured out. Can he repeat?
Another lightly raced 3yo with only five starts and looked good winning at CD vs. high-end sprinting claimers last out. He got home in quick time, so it’s up the ladder today. Can he make some noise vs this crew?
Big win at PIM last out taking the McKay Turf, and that was his third win of this season. With eleven wins from twenty-nine starts, adding in eight others on the board finishes, he’s dangerous… very dangerous. Don’t leave him off of your tickets.
Got back on the winning side of things last out taking down high-end Alw types at CD, and he was bookn’ in that one. :56 flat is hauling the mail, and he won by two in that race. Another like that and he’s probably getting his picture taken.
