There’s No Tears for a Tall Southern Lady

Wasted Tears Stakes
1 1/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Filly & Mare 3-Year-Olds And Up.

1st Tall Southern Lady Oquinn Farm Elliott S

You often find in smaller fields that it’s not the leader or the stalker that gets the money but whoever is last at the first call especially when they are within a couple of lengths. This one let it all unfold in front of her before moving through stylishly and taking the win by just under a length. She certainly looked well in with the weights against her form and works and now she is three from three on the turf the trainer may well be tempted to stay on the grass until she is beaten.

2nd Numeric Madness Ekli Stable Eramia R E

Proved once again that no matter how good the graded stakes form reads when you meet a three-year-old that is working well and has proven ability it is almost impossible to beat them. She went to the front and looked pretty comfortable at the pace although despite having a clear lead the AI would not give her a breather and in the end, she faded under the whip. This was a sound effort, but the older horses are going to find it harder and harder to beat the three’s now as we move into the second half of the year.

3rd Springs Eternal Aarons Hosses Velazquez J R

Plugged away for a third and did pretty well to get as close as she did, there is definitely ability there, I just don’t think it has been fully unlocked yet.

4th Aquifer Mo Mentum Farm Quinonez L S

Despite some improvement in her works, she was never going well today and may be better suited for a shorter trip.
