6 SAR The Quick Call (GIII)
$175.000 3yo 5 1/2f Turf 122lbs
Summer in SAR… it’s hard to beat. And The Quick Call (GIII) has a nice group of sprinting sophomores ready to go five and a half furlongs on the lush lawn, here at the Spa. I’ll give the nod to Sarah Parker In Snow and hope that he can bounce back from that fifth-place finish in the Jaipur (GI). That was still a decent effort, only two lengths back, and this isn’t GI company. Let’s go right next door and give Drone Strike a shot. Four wins from the last five starts… yeah, he can run, and may be the one to get past today.
Here’s The Field –
Got the job done last out taking down MSW types at CD in his first weeds effort. He didn’t show a ton on the main surface, but you have to look at that winning effort and give the big barn a shot in this one.
Since being claimed, he’s been close in just about every race. Broke maiden at FG, and a pair of fourths in stakes company, around a nose-miss vs Alw types at SA. He seems to like the lawn, so give him a shot.
Was on the TC Trail running fifth in the Gotham (GIII) and eighth in the Wood Mem (GII) then moved back to the lawn to be third in the Walker, then won over a firm lawn, both at CD. I think you have to give him a big look today.
Did he figure this racehorse thing out? Broke maiden on the downhill course at SA the won at Alw race at WO, again on the lawn. He was second in both of his prior lawn races, so you have to think he loves it here.
He’s won four of his last five starts and looks to be a big factor today. Back-to-back stakes scores in the Murphy at PIM on PRK Day, then beat up on NY bred stakes company in the NYSS-Bid at BEL. He could be tough in this one
He was rolling vs Alw and ungraded stakes types, then was fifth in the Jaipur (GI) at BEL in his most recent. Certainly nothing to be ashamed of there, and a horse that deserves a big look today.
Three wins and a pair of runner-up efforts from his nine lifetime starts, so you have to give him a look today. He beat one in the Pennie Ridge (GII) at BEL, but that was at a mile and an eighth and I think getting back to a sprint will help him.
