Can Maggie Do It Again in The Glen Falls?

The Glens Falls – Grade II
SAR Race #6 1 1/2m InTurf Graded Stake
Purse $250.000 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.

1 Paris Candy Glorify Stables Lopez P

She has been a solid lower end stakes horse for a while now but as we have seen recently, with fields so even, every dog has its day at HRP. She gets an ideal draw, the same that saw a good second in the Gallorette, so I expect her to run her usual honest race, A win may be a little beyond her form so far, but her works have been going well and it wouldn’t take too many favors from the race engine to see her in the top four.

2 Ginger Lucy The Sidley Stud Dettori L

Another that has been solid rather than inspiring I guess this race may come down to how she handles 12 furlongs. Her sire Ginger Haggis has been doing very well and he lapped up the longer races so it is just possible that this race may bring out the best in her.

3 Grand Rifle Grimley Velazquez J R

One of the tough things about HRP is the fact that a stakes winner and a maiden winner work the same times so until they have actually faced this level, we never know which one has the required class gene. So, this one is a conundrum, in two races she has finished last beaten a total of 16 lengths and in the other one she won a big-ticket CD maiden. I suspect the maiden win was her true self as one of those two was a debut run and the other was in the wet but either way her form looks a bit crazy when you couple it with the same work times as the experienced stakes winners inside her. She could win, she could finish last.

4 Sin City Girlz Czech Out Farms Ortiz J L

She was mighty impressive in taking The Very One by an easy four lengths but was then last beaten six lengths in the Orchid…..are you seeing a trend here? Me too, some performances just need throwing away as a form reference because of the way this race engine is working. She bounced back from that last place with an easy win and a second in the RGD as if to confirm my thoughts so for now let’s ignore that run in the Orchid and look at her body of work. She has won four from six this year so is in good form, loves these extreme trips and for the most part is very consistent so as long as the race engine doesn’t decide to give her a blob again, she should be a wining chance.

5 Maggie Greene The Sidley Stud Saez L

She may be eight years old, but this great mare is still a force to be reckoned with. She rarely gets a mention in those hall of fame conversations, but she really is a star of the game with $4,700.000 in winnings and 20 wins to her name. She gained the last one of those last time out when taking the Nassau by four lengths and let’s not forget she also won the Orchid over this trip in April. Make no bones this is a superstar of the game and is not finished winning yet.

6 Believe In Miracles TwinTowersRacing Davis D

Beaten fair and square by Maggie Greene in the Nassau last time but second was a good result for this filly who had only managed two wins prior to that. She has flicked around trips and surfaces so it is hard to weigh up her form over this trip, but I think it may take a bit of TwinTowers magic to get her winning this one.

7 Build Battle Mb Stables Prat F

Another classic HRP case of which form do you believe, the win in the Sheepshead Bay or second last in the RGD. It is very hard to really weigh it up and a lot will depend on the trainer or the race engine tinkering with her running style. She made the running to be second in the Waya on the old engine but after two on pace efforts on the new engine reverted to a deep closer for her last three runs which included that grade two win. I am no gamer so couldn’t tell you what will work today but if anyone can work it out then Mb can.

8 Made The Choice High First Flight Stable Gaffalione T

A seven-year-old with 52 starts under her belt, there are no secrets to her other than her running style which is more of a closer on the new engine after being more of a mid/on pace type on the old one. She has been in decent form this year with thirds in the Santa Ana, The Bewitch and The NY so she is in tip top condition coming into this and she is one that relishes the 12 furlongs. I think she may be overlooked in this field and reckon she is good each way value.

9 Lady Hilltopper Black N Gold Stable Rispoli U

In true HRP style she had beaten Made The Choice High twice in a row before being behind her in the NY so it is hard to work out what will happen between them today. She was pretty consistent before the NY and her wins in the Santa Ana and Bewitch put her right in the BC picture so we could assume the NY was a race engine brain fart and throw it out, do that and she would be close to favorite to win this even with an outside draw.

SUMMARY

This is another of those races where many of the horses are virtually the same and it is just a race engine and AI decision as to which one will win today. If any of them are at their best, they stand a chance but if you had to go for one you would be mad to not go for Maggie Greene who has been there and done that so many times before.
