There’s a Creepy Chill in Solana Beach Stakes

Solana Beach Stakes
1 Mile Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up Foaled In CA.

1st Creepy Chili Chili King Stables Gutierrez Mario

Well, this one as I said in the preview ticked many of the ‘anomaly’ boxes at HRP, so I was thrilled when the odds monkeys put her up as a 30/1 chance in a four-horse field. A three-year-old against older horses in August and first time on turf are big pointers on their own but to put the two together was irresistible.
Having said that she only just won getting up in the last stride to win by a nose. I think this was a good spot for her and the trainers should be patting themselves on the back for grabbing a purse that has looked out of her reach since she ran a great third in the Pocahontas last year.

2nd Victory General Invicta Group Llc Bravo J

Got to the lead and although she wasn’t left alone, she had asserted past halfway and looked to be taking advantage of the wet track, caught in the dying strides she is another that had been struggling since a placing at stakes level as a three-year-old and probably won’t have better chances than this to put some more black type form on her record.

3rd Delorean Wolf Ridge Stables Smith M E

Sent off by the odds monkeys as odds on favorite which seemed far-fetched but maybe had something to do with being a previous winner in the wet. Stalked the leader and pushed hard early and we all know what happens to stalkers that push the leader, yes, she faded down the stretch.

4th Free Kingdom Hambletonian Stable Ayuso A

Her record on wet tracks was very poor so of course the odds monkeys had her as second favorite despite being beaten in a claimer last time out. Last of the four she fell away pretty tamely from halfway.
