The public knew what the liked in Saturday’s VA Oaks and they were paid accordingly as Alydar Stables‘ Spice Run, sent off at 1.40/1 odds, showed her true ability down the lane and cleared this group by a length to take the win.  The final running time was 1:45.80 for the mile and an eighth over the firm turf.  Spliter certainly made a race of it, but just couldn’t stay with the eventual winner, settling for the second spot.  It wouldn’t be a HRP race without a dead-heat, and we got lucky to have one for the third spot as Wild Cats and Commander Jessica couldn’t be separated by the calendar and shared that part of the purse.  Nine lengths covered the field of seven.
