Chai Danger Completes the Threepeat in LCD Turf

LCD Turf ($100.000 Purse)
FG- For Three Year Olds and Upward Foaled In LA
One Mile and One Sixteenth on the Turf
December 9, 2023

He’s done it again! Chai Danger has made the LCD Turf his playground, winning the race for the third consecutive year, doing so much the same way as he has in each of 2021 and 2022. If you look at this race line for this one, and those years, you will see that they played out almost identically for the gelding. He was our pick to win, though the betting public found two others to be more appealing. In the end, all of that doesn’t matter, and it’s Wolf Ridge Stables celebrating the win. It’s the third win in the race for the trainer, all of them with Chai Danger. D L Parker is the winning rider, his first tine race. Congratulations to them! The time of the win was 1:39.24, and that is a new stake record. Let’s take a look at it now!

(1/4 Mile- :23.62)- Post-time favorite Two For goes out to the lead and is clear by a length for trainer BomBay Stables. Asgar’s Stratton will stalk in hin the second position, a length ahead of Rain Stick (Hrg Stables) and the eventual winner of the race, Chai Danger, for Wolf Ridge Stables. That trainer was certainly happy to see him right where he was early on in this race for the last two years. It’s about two lengths further back to the trailer, At The Moon (Asgar).

(½ Mile- 47.08)- As we make our way down the backstretch, there is no change at the front of the field as Two For has an uncontested lead with Stratton serving as the stalker right behind him. In the middle of the field, Chai Danger has moved into the third spot by inching a length ahead of Rain Stick. At The Moon continues run his own race at the back.

(Top of Stretch, 2.0F To Go)- Two For would still be the leader as they move around the turn, but he is starting to feel more pressure now from Stratton, who seeks to move by to the outside. Meanwhile, Chai Danger had been keeping the leaders in sight, and was in a good position on the track entering the stretch. He was still third, but about a length and a half from the lead with a clear lane in front of him. Rain Stick dropped back to join At The Moon.

(Finish- 1:39.24)- Early in the stretch, Stratton looked to be running well and that he might be able to hold off Chai Danger, but within the final furlong, there was no one better than the two-time winner of this race. With half a furlong to go, the lead was his, and he was ready to make his traditional trip to the winner’s circle as the victor of the LCD Turf. Stratton is second but tired a bit late and almost saw Two For get back by. It was way back to At The Moon and Rain Stick.

About The Winner- Chai Danger, trained by Wolf Ridge Stables and ridden to victory by D L Parker, is a six-year-old gelding by the late Chai Falls and is out of the late House Danger. He was bred in Louisiana by Jive Inc as a yearling, and was acquired by Wolf Ridge Stables for $45.000 from New Larkhill Stables in a October 2021 private sale. Congratulations to the connections! The win is his eleventh in 46 starts and his fifth stake win. His career earnings are now $628.490.
