3 AQU NY Stallion Series – Fifth Avenue
$500.000 2yoF 7f Dirt 120lbs
As another year comes to a close, this being the last race of SRF coverage for my 2023 season, we take in… no no no… a group of two-year-old fillies??!!?? Oh, I’m doomed… or… we call in our wild card, my wife Ali, for her analysis of The NY Stallion Series – Fifth Avenue. This seven-furlong extended sprint is for the Empire-state-bred ladies, and although they are calling for overcast skies, it should be a fast strip (6% chance of rain at this juncture). So, let’s bring in the little lady (yes, all 95 pounds of her) and see what she has to offer.
So… who do you like? “You know I always like the Mb horses… you cry that he wins all the time, but that Lady Lara horse looks like a monster. She won a stakes at CD and now moves to State-bred? I think she’s going to be tough”. Ok, I do NOT cry, stop that… who else do you like? “Statuette was second in that same race, but things never seem to go like that here… and she was third in that state bred race… I think you can put her in the second spot”…. about that time… “oh, oh, I didn’t see Lil Sunshine was fourth in the BC race… I like her best, then the other two, but then I leave out Mb… I don’t like doing this…”. And like that, she walks out of the office and I can bask in the fact that this SRF stuff ain’t as easy as it looks… finally… some redemption. Yet, I am chicken and will avoid picking against her.
